Symphonic Band:
All students who are not selected for the Wind Symphony are to enroll in Symphonic Band for spring semester. This ensemble will have performance opportunities at SCSBOA Festival as well as concerts and other events. Emphasis on the training of younger players for eventual placement into Wind Symphony is the primary goal. In-class playing exams and other forms of assessment will be used to help achieve this goal. SCSBOA class "B" and "C" (grade 4 and 3) music will be performed. Exact instrumentation and balance of the group is at the discretion of the director. All percussionists who are not selected for the Wind Symphony or Jazz Ensembles must enroll in this class.

The Valencia High School Wind Symphony is comprised of the finest wind and percussion players in the program. Auditions for this ensemble will occur in December. Instrumentation is limited to the following preliminary instrumentation, based on recommendations by the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the American Bandmasters Association (ABA), the California Band Directors Association (CBDA), and the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA).

Concert Dress:
Students are required to wear the following attire for all instrumental music concerts and festivals:
- Black shirt (button-down type; no polo shirts or t-shirts)
- Black dress pants (Dockers™ or Dickies™ are okay)
- Black dress shoes with black dress socks (NO TENNIS SHOES)
